an interview with tonyp

I am a self-taught photographer, who has studied the works of Ansel Adams, Richard Avedon, Hiro and Franceso Scuvallo, to name a few.

Since the age of 13 years, I have been interested in photography.  On my 14th birthday, my father bought me my first darkroom set.  On my 21st birthday, I was published in The Detroit Free Press. I have displayed my work throughout the years with other artists in various shows. However, I feel a need to venture out on my own now.

Photography has always been and always will be my vehicle to express myself visually.

.

I feel photography is a talent given to me.  I really don't try to make any statements with  my work. More, I allow myself to share with others what I feel, whether is good, bad or indifferent.

I have always wanted to paint, however, I really couldn't.  That's how the hand colored photographs came about.  My interest in computers along with my interest in photography and art, allowed me to create these images.
